Welcome to the Music Project of Turnaround Jazz Band - Matlosana
As music is boundless, is timeless and infinite. It has no parameters, it connects people in way that is undefined, unpredictable, unimaginable and always a learning path. The participants and students in this project are to learn and appreciate the South African music sounds, the music of the world and the universe through personal experiences. The musical structure in this project is rooted in the Jazz genre that cascades and proliferates into other types of musical genres.
CAFCA Matlosana
The Development Project was established in February and
officially launched in May 2009 with the support of a similar project from
Mamelodi (Pretoria). CAFCA recruits
youths with no or very little music experience. In their infant state students
are introduced in playing musical instrument through a Recorder based on the
theoretical foundation. Music lessons
with skilled tutors are offered to them once a week. We give preference to
learners aged 10 to 22 years primarily residents in our area. Most of the students' parents are not
able to afford regular payment requirements.
The tuition is offered through the Music Theory following the University of South Africa's (UNISA) theory edition and enrolment procedure for examinations. It must be stressed that theory and practical skills strategy covering the following musical instruments - bass, guitar, violins, piano/keyboards, wind instruments (saxophones, trumpets, trombone, flute and clarinet), drums and percussions, including more values, discipline and acknowledgement of differences in the society, are the core basis of our teaching practice and paradigm .
